Blog | Blackheads, Whiteheads, Milia oh my!
Are you fed up with persistent blackheads? Do you find yourself contending with rough, dry or oily skin? Ever wondered what those little white bumps are under your skin?
Our Extraction Facial could help!
Blackheads form when a hair follicle in the skin becomes clogged or plugged. Dead skin cells and excess oil collect in the follicle's opening, and when exposed to the air, these impurities undergo oxidation, resulting in the formation of blackheads.
Milia are small white bumps that can typically be found around the eyes, nose, and cheeks. They can also be found on other areas of the body and can sometimes be quite large.
Milia form when dead skin cells get trapped under the skin. They can occur spontaneously (for no known reason), or they can happen in response to skin damage. Whilst extraction facials are an effective solution for most milia, those of a more persistent nature or located in delicate areas may require alternative removal methods.
So, what happens during an extraction facial?
We’ll begin with a deep cleanse of your face, neck and décolletage - using a custom cleanser tailored to your skin type.
Then we’ll move on to exfoliation - aimed at eliminating excess dead skin cells and revealing a more radiant complexion.
A gentle steam is then applied to the face whilst you indulge in a relaxing neck and shoulder or scalp massage, providing relaxation for both your skin and your senses.
Then comes the best part! Physical extraction with a special tool to delicately remove blackheads, milia and whiteheads. This can be a little uncomfortable, but it doesn’t hurt.
Following extraction, we nourish your skin with a specialised mask designed to address any remaining skin concerns.
At the end of your treatment we apply a selection of products tailored to your skin's unique needs, complemented by the application of a medical-grade SPFÂ to protect your skin from harmful UV radiation.
