Summer Skincare & Hot Weather: Protect, Hydrate and Support Your Skin

When the temperature rises, your skin’s needs change. Warmer weather brings more sun exposure, higher humidity, and increased sweat - all of which can impact your skin’s balance.
At Allure Aesthetics, we take a clinical but nurturing approach to supporting your skin through the summer.
Here's what we recommend for keeping your skin calm, hydrated and protected in the heat.
1. SPF Is Non-Negotiable
Daily SPF is the single most important step in your summer skincare routine - even on cloudy days.
We recommend:
Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ (ideally SPF 50)
Reapplication every 2 hours if you're outdoors or sweating
Medical-grade mineral or hybrid formulas for sensitive or acne-prone skin
Proper sun protection helps prevent pigmentation, sun damage and premature ageing, and it’s essential after treatments like microneedling, peels, and injectables.
2. Hydrate From Within (and On the Surface)
Hot weather can lead to trans-epidermal water loss - which means your skin may become dehydrated even if it feels oily.
Support hydration by:
Drinking enough water throughout the day
Using a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid
Avoiding harsh foaming cleansers or over-exfoliating
Applying a light moisturiser, even if you’re oily
Hydrated skin is more resilient and functions better - especially during sun exposure.
3. Watch for Heat-Triggered Concerns
Increased humidity and sweat can contribute to:
Breakouts and congestion
Heat rash or irritation
Melasma or post-inflammatory pigmentation flare-ups
If your skin becomes unbalanced in summer, we recommend a clinical consultation to assess what's happening beneath the surface. Our summer-safe treatments (like LED therapy, the Summer Peel, and facials) can help calm inflammation and improve clarity.
4. Don’t Abandon Active Skincare - Adjust It
You don’t need to stop using actives like vitamin C or retinol, but you may need to:
Lower the frequency
Focus on antioxidant protection in the morning (like vitamin C)
Reduce exfoliation if your skin is feeling sensitised
We can guide you on how to maintain your results without compromising your skin barrier.
Final Thought
Healthy summer skin starts with consistency. From SPF to hydration to gentle clinical support, your skin deserves thoughtful care - especially when temperatures rise.
